Tech Forum March 2016 Update

A Note from the Board

Congratulations to all the 2016 Idea Challenge teams for demonstrating how technology, innovation and collaboration result in new concepts to help make Wilmington a better place to live and work. Who can forget their ideas? From building a world-renowned teaching hospital at Nemours with AZ and DuPont’s help, to creating a group of tech evangelists and a non-profit marketing organization and a centralized publishing hub to share news for the region, to a "Joe Knows Delaware" marketing campaign, and a new idea to make State Tax Credits more visible...the teams all did outstanding work! Thank you to MySherpa, Capital One, 1313 Innovation and all the team sponsors for their generous support!

We hope you will join us on April 20th for our annual Spring Into Networking mixer. We've invited technology, engineering, entrepreneurship, and MIS students from UD, Wilmington U, and other area colleges and universities to join us. You have the opportunity to sponsor a group of 5 or 10 students to attend this special  networking event. See below for all the details.

Idea Challenge Offers Ways to Make Wilmington a Better Place
Do-Gooders and Tech Geeks Work As One

It's already pretty great but, hey, it's Trump season. Check out the results of the Tech Forum's Ideas Challenge and see if you can help make some of 'em stick.

Technology Forum of Delaware hosted its annual Idea Challenge Wednesday night at Hercules Plaza with the hopes of generating ideas to improve Wilmington.

Some of the ideas were more concrete than others, and it remains to be seen if anything will come of the pitches. If participants want to move their ideas forward, they can seek guidance from Tech Forum members.

But how to accomplish such a complex task?

That was the big question at the 3rd Annual Idea Challenge at the Tech Forum of Delaware, a competition that teamed “Do Gooders” from local civic and service organizations and “Tech Geeks” from the Tech Forum community.

Websites that serve as portals of information, a Delaware-based medical school, and cancer research centers were among suggestions generated during Idea Challenge 3.0 sponsored by Technology Forum of Delaware earlier this month.

The idea brought together six teams of so-called Do-Gooders (civic and nonprofits) and Tech Geeks (technology experts), to see how the intersection of their ideas could make Wilmington a better place to live.
